The Red Piggy Press family is growing! We are proud to welcome the immensely talented Wendy Kwasny, a mom to a boy and a girl under 5 years old, a fine artist with 15+ years experience, and an advocate of attachment parenting, hands on learning, equality for all, arts and sciences in schools, organic gardening, and free play.
Are we lucky or what? She’s agreed to be a contributing blogger to Red Piggy Press, and will provide real-world, personal insight to those topics we value the most: Culture, Language, Arts, Social Issues, and Science. That is … CLASS, no?
We, of course, put her through our gamut of questions. Because it’s only fair.
I’m into Red Piggy because I believe if you want something bad enough and you keep taking small steps toward your goal, you can achieve anything. With time, effort, struggle, creativity and opportunity you can make miracles happen.
I want to convey this to my children and to anyone else who will listen with an open heart. Red Piggy will be an amazing, cutting edge forum with which we can influence minds, create new ideas, push limits, and set new sights.
I could be best described as a gibbon. They mate for life, they are good moms, and they spend a great deal of their time playing.
My favorite children’s book as a child was anything Roald Dahl because he showed a darker side to humanity, which at the time, I thought was forbidden. He always rooted for the underdog and gave power to the powerless.
My earliest reading memory is …that’s a tough one. I always thought I didn’t like reading; it never could hold my attention long enough for me to finish a book. That is, until I found Roald Dahl, which led to mysteries, and eventually scary books in high school. Now, I enjoy reading non-fiction and memoirs.
My favorite children’s book app right now is Pedlar Lady.
My favorite thing about helping Red Piggy Press as a contributing blogger is the opportunity to be a part of something big that helps children, to share ideas on parenting and art, and build a community who cares.
I think the future of children’s book apps is bright, promising, exciting, transformative, endless!
Hooray for Wendy!
